Girlfriend Collective Leggings Review

I'm a firm believer that 99.9999% of the time, you shouldn't trust the things you read on Facebook (this election is a perfect example of that.)

So when I saw an ad for a direct-to-consumer activewear brand that makes leggings out of recycled plastic bottles and pays all workers involved in the process a fair wage that was giving out pairs of their leggings for free, I was a little doubtful.

For the record - I never, ever click on Facebook ads because in some way, I think it's my protest against the algorithms that seem to know me so well. But this time, I just had to see more.

The more I read about Girlfriend Collective, a Seattle-based activewear brand, the more I was intrigued. In place of a traditional marketing campaign they had allocated advertising funds to social media ads to spread the word about giving their leggings out for free (once on the market, they'll retail for about $60), requiring every person to only pay the price of shipping.

Like, hell yes. It's a smart tactic - they're so certain you'll love the leggings they're letting each consumer try them and make a decision for themselves.

The process was pretty simple. I signed up through the website, and gave them basic information like my email address, shipping address and billing info. I signed up in September and was told before ordering that because of the popularity of the product, it would take until to December for me to get them. As of now they're backordered until February 2017. But believe me, it was worth the wait.

My leggings arrived today in the mail and I can't wait for them to go on the market so I can snag more.

They're a super-stretchy fabric, comparable in comfort to both my Gap Body and Lululemon leggings. They're high waisted which I love, but I know it's not everyone's style. They're also not sheer in the least bit, which at a low price can be hard to find. The sizes run from XS-XL, and I ordered a medium which is my usual legging size.

I'm thrilled with my new pants and I can't wait to dress them up and wear them out. Head to www.Girlfriend.com to grab yours before the campaign ends!
